Texas insurance glossary
Declarations page
The declarations page is the summary at the front of a policy naming the insured, the vehicles or property, the coverages, the limits, the deductibles and the term.
It is the document that settles arguments. Whether a policy carries uninsured motorist coverage, what the collision deductible is, and which drivers are named are answered there rather than from memory.
It is not the policy. The forms and endorsements listed on it are what say when the insurer pays; the declarations page says how much, on what, and for whom.
Agents shorten it to the dec page, and having it in hand is what makes any coverage conversation quick rather than speculative.

Where this is handled
Knowing what a coverage is called is not the same as knowing what is on your policy. One independent agency can read your declarations page with you and compare the markets that will write your record.
