Moon Insurance Managers, Inc. · Independent agency

The markets we can go to.

We are not one company’s shopfront. Moon Insurance compares 20+ named markets across auto, home, flood, windstorm and commercial lines — standard and non-standard, admitted and surplus lines, plus the residual markets that exist for the risks nobody else will write.

Read this first

A name on this list is a door we can knock on. It is not a yes.

Every company below is a market this agency holds or has published a relationship with. That is a different statement from “this company will write your policy”, and the difference is the whole reason the list is worth publishing honestly.

Appetite changes constantly. Markets close to new business in a county, or for a roof over a certain age, or for a driver with a recent lapse, and they do it without announcing it. Some of the names here are closed to new business right now. What an independent agency actually offers is not a guarantee that one of them says yes — it is that when the first one says no, there is another door, and somebody at this desk already knows which one to try.

So: we will tell you on the phone which of these we can realistically go to for your situation, and what each one is likely to want from you. That answer takes a conversation, not a list.

Where the list stops

Three things this page deliberately does not do.

It does not name the wholesale doors.

A good deal of commercial business reaches a market through a wholesaler, an MGA or a program administrator rather than through a direct appointment. Those are how the placement happens, not markets you would recognise or could ask for by name, and listing them to a shop owner explains nothing while sounding like a promise.

It does not carry life, health or Medicare markets.

Those placements run off a different set of appointments and are handled at the desk. Call and we will tell you which ones fit — the same answer we would give here, without publishing a list nobody has confirmed.

It does not publish financial-strength ratings.

A rating is a third party’s opinion, it is revised without telling us, and a page carrying last year’s grade is worse than a page carrying none. If a rating matters to your decision, ask on the call and we will look it up with you.

Surplus lines policies are written by carriers not licensed in Texas and are not protected by the Texas guaranty association. We say so on the page where it applies, every time.

No obligation

Tell us the situation. We will tell you which of these we can actually reach.

One call, one licensed Texas agent, and a straight answer about where your risk can go — including the times the honest answer is that somebody else is the better door.
